April 30, 2008 Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded tonight for a report of a structure fire on Dismonda Ave. Engine 25 was on location reporting fire in a bedroom on the 1st floor of a 2 1/2 story frame. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital. The fire was under control in about 14 minutes. Dispatch MVA / Trauma 'Highland Hose Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a MVA at Rte 5 & South Creek Rd. Command was on location reporting a 1 car MVA with 1 victim ejected from the vehicle and requested EMS on a rush. Mercy Flight was requested to transport. April 29, 2008 MVA / Person Trapped: Alden & Crittenden Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA at Crittenden & North Roads. Crittenden 9 was on location reporting 1 car MVA off the road and extrication required. Crittenden 9 requested Mercy Flight to the scene for 1 patient. Dispatch 2 Alarm Fire: Doyle 1 & 2 Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Rossler St at the Stanley Falk Elementary School. Doyle 1 9-1 assumed command and reported a fire in the boiler room. All students were evacuated safely to the hotel across the street. Engine 31 was on location reporting a car into a bulding. Rescue 1 was requested for extrication and F-20 was requested by Ladder 14 for 2 defibrilators being used. The driver was pronounced at a local hospital and the passenger is in critical condition. MVA/ Trauma Code: North Bailey Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a MVA on the I-990 NB @ the I-290. North Bailey 9 was on location reporting a MVA and working a trauma code. Mercy Flight was on stand-by but patient was transported by Twin City. MVA/ Person Trapped: Clarence Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a MVA at Clarence Center Rd & Salt Rd. Clarence 9 was on location reporting a 2 car MVA with 2 victims trapped requiring extrication. Command also requested Mercy Flight to the scene and Clarence Center for a 2nd set of JAWS. A third victim was found on the 2nd floor. All 3 victims were pronounced at local hospitals. Channel 4 April 1, 2008 New CPR Method: In a major change, the American Heart Association said Monday that hands-only CPR - rapid, deep presses on the victim's chest until help arrives - works just as well as standard CPR for sudden cardiac arrest in adults.
