April 30, 2009 Pedstrian Struck / Serious Injuries: Harris Hill firefighters responded for a fire alarm and medical alarm at the residence of 4604 Brentwood Drive. Upon Harris Hill 9-2's response, Amherst Fire Control updated that it was an EMS Call and a 2 year old child was backed over by an automobile. About a minute later Harris Hill was updated that CPR was in progress. Twin City transported the child to MFSH. B-56 reported extension to the 2nd floor & attic. The fire was under control in about 23 minutes. Dispatch Porch Fire: Getzville firefighters responded to 3320 Millersport Highway just before 9 last night for some type of fire on an upper porch. Upon Getzville 9-3's arrival he found a small fire on a second floor porch. The fire was extinguished leaving $1,000 damage to the structure. Dispatch April 28, 2009 3 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Myrtle St. Engine 32 reported smoke showing enroute & B-43 went on location reporting heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 story 100x80 commercial building, ordered defensive operations & requested a 2nd alarm to the scene. B-56 assumed command & reported heavy smoke conditions and an exposure on the #2 side. B-56 requested an additional 2 Engines & 1 Ladder to the scene and the balance of the 3rd alarm. Engine 33 went on location with smoke showing from a large 2 1/2 occupied dwelling. Ladder 6 reported fire in a 1st floor rear bedroom. The fire was under control in about 16 minutes. Dispatch Working Fire: East Amherst firefighters responded with Swormville firefighters last night to the area of Mission drive and Tiburon lane (East Amherst Fire Protection District) for a reported structure fire. Upon response, East Amherst 9 was updated that the fire was called in by an Amherst Police officer reporting a pool house on fire. Swormville 9 was first onlocation reporting a pool house fully involved with a possible exposure. Firefighters from Main-Transit were called in as the FAST team. The fire was knocked down within minutes. The pool house was a total loss of $25,000, and the exposure had minimal damage. The casue of this fire is still under investigation. Story & Audio Submitted by Andrew Fischer Dispatch April 25, 2009 MVA: South Wlaes Firefighters responded last night for a report of a MVA on Emery Rd. There were two occupants (uninjured) who had left the scene in another vehicle before the arrival of PD or FD. The car went off the road on a turn, struck and sheared off a telephone pole along the passenger side door. When the passenger side quarter panel hit the pole, the car separated in half and rotated 270 degrees while traveling another 100 feet before coming to a stop. The rotation launched the gas tank about 100 feet away across the street. Dispatch April 23, 2009 Garage Fire: Pine Hill was alerted at 0701 for a reported unattached garage fire at 23 Pine Ridge Terrace. Pine Hill 9-1 on location reported light smoke showing from the upper eaves. Pine Hill 9 on location assuming command. Pine Hill E-2 arrived and a 1 3/4 line was stretched. The garage was vented and the fire was under control in about 10 minutes. M/A companies were Cleveland Hill Engine and Ladder, Rescue an Engine. The fire was found to be wiring to a motion light. Millgrove 9-1 went on location reporting a car vs tractor trailer MVA. Further reports stated the car under the rear of the tractor trailer with 1 victim trapped. The victim was extricated in about 37 minutes. Dispatch April 22, 2009 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Baxter St. Engine 26 went on location with smoke showing from 2 story dwelling and further reported a basement fire. The fire was under control in about 16 minutes. Dispatch Kitchen Fire: Snyder Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a kitchen fire on Chateau Terrace. Snyder 9-1 went on location reporting a small kitchen fire. Main Transit responded mutual aid as the FAST team. The fire was knocked down quickly. Dispatch April 21, 2009 American LaFrance Closing: American LaFrance announced they will close the Hamburg Facility by the end of May 2009 which employs 70 workers. Channel 4 Channel 7 1+ Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Bailey Ave. Engine 31 reported a working fire enroute to their squad call. Engine 23 went on location with fire showing from the rear of a 2 1/2 story dwelling. B-43 reported heavy smoke on the 2nd floor and an exposure problem on the #4 side and requested additional equipment bringing Engines 31,34, & Ladder 15 to the scene. One victim was transported by Mercy Flight and 1 victim by Twin City Ambulance to ECMC. Both victims were extricated in about 41 minutes. Working Fire: Kenmore Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Military Rd. Kenmore 9-1 went on ocation with smoke showing from a 1 story auto shop and requested a FAST team to the scene. Mutual Aid companies were Ellwood, Kenilworth (FAST), & Brighton (fill in @ Kenmore). The fire was under control in about 19 minutes. Dispatch 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded last night to investigate smoke on Clinton St. Engine 35 went on location requesting the balance of the 1st alarm and further reported fire on the 2nd floor of a 1 1/2 story vacant. The fire was under control in about 25 minutes. Dispatch Working Fire: The Marilla fire company responded this evening to a report of a structure fire at 3029 Four Rod Rd. in The town of Marilla. Wales center responded as the balance of the first alarm. Marilla 9-1 arrived on location reporting a working fire involving a natural gas leek on the front side of the house. Wales center 9-2 worked to evacuate elderly residents as Marilla Engine 1 arrived and stretched an 1 3/4 to the front of the house allong with a second to the rear due to possible extension into the basement. Damage was limited to a small portion of the exterior of the house. Fire was under control in approx. 7 minutes. Lake View 9 went on location requesting Mercy Flight. An update to Mercy Flight was reporting a motorcycle rider was ejected from the motorcycle suffering lower body injuries. Dispatch April 16, 2009 MVA / Spill Response: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA at Military Rd & Chandler St. Engine 36 went on location reporting a tractor trailer tanker truck rollover with oil leaking and requested a spill response to the scene. B-47 reported the oil was leaking about 2-3 gallons per minute and about 1400 gallons on the ground. Crews were on location for approximately 3 hours. Dispatch 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded late last night to investigate a stove problem on Delsan Ct. Engine 38 went on location reporting fire in the floor on the 1st floor of a multi unit apartment building & requested the balance of the 1st alarm. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. April 15, 2009 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Massachusetts Ave. Engine 37 went on location with smoke showing. B-44 reported fire on the 1st floor of a large 2 1/2 vacant dwelling. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. Dispatch Off Road Rescue South Wales firefighters were dispatched yesterday along with Rural Metro East Aurora 576 to a male who fell from a bucket truck on Lewis Rd. RMA 576 arrived to find a male approximately 1 mile from the road in the woods. The male patient had been cutting tree branches when the off road bucket trucks boom he was in snapped causing him to fall 30 feet out of the bucket. RMA requested West Falls four-wheeler and Mercy Flight to the scene. The patient was found to have leg and back injuries. West Falls four-wheeler removed the patient to the road were RMA 576 transported the patient to the awaiting helicopter at the EA High School. South Wales, West Falls, East Aurora Fire Departments along with East Aurora Police Department and Rural Metro East Aurora 576 assisted at the scene. April 14, 2009 Medical Call / Rescue: Engine 21 and Rural Metro EMS responded for EMS @ a residence on Jefferson Avenue. Firefighters and Paramedics found a morbidly obese pt. on the 2nd floor who could not be extricated downstairs via backboard, stairchair or tarp due to her weight. Ladder 6, Rescue 1, along with Collapse Rescue were called to the residence to assist with extrication. An additional ambulance, Rural Metro 508, for transport along with Rural Metro West Supervisor 952 as well C-1, B-52, F-20 also responded. Pt. was extricated in roughly 3 hours with help from City DPW and City Engineers. Dispatch Fatal MVA: Forks Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a tractor trailer rollover on the I-90 on ramp from Walden Ave. Forks 9 went on location reporting a tractor trailer rollover with extrication required and a possible trauma code. Corfu Firefighters were battling a house fire at 10 E Main St Wisconsin LODD: John Weber, 77, was a longtime member of Township Fire Department in Eau Claire died in the firehouse on Saturday, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. Crews were on location over an hour Dispatch MVA / Person Trapped: Doyle & Bellvue Firefighters responded last night for a report of a MVA on William St near Union Rd. Bellvue 9-2 went on location reporting a 2 car MVA with 2 victims and reported the call was in Doyle's district. Bellvue 9 reported an entrapment and using the tool off Bellvue Engine 3 & requested a 2nd ambulance. The victim was extricated in about 18 minutes. Dispatch April 6, 2009 Smoke in the Building: Harris Hill firefighters were alerted by Amherst Fire Control to an automatic fire alarm at 8800 Sheridan Drive at 11:05 this morning. Harris Hill 9-2 called onlocation and reported the building was evacuated and that there was some type of smoke in the building. Harris Hill 9-1 further reported smoke in the computer room. Mutual Aid companies were Main-Transit (Automatic Aid - Rescue), East Amherst (FAST), Clarence (Ladder), Bowmansville (Stand-by Company). The cause of the smoke/minor fire was traced to leaves in a HVAC unit on the roof. Click Here Bedroom Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon to investigate smoke on Hayden St. Engine 25 went on location with smoke on the 1st floor and B-46 requested the balance of the 1st alarm. B-46 reported a bedroom fire on the 1st floor. The fire was under control in about 9 minutes. Dispatch Working Fire: At 1059 Rescue was alerted to a car fire with exposures. Rescue 9 arrived on location reporting a car and boat fully involved and wire burning and down with exposures to a garage and house. He ordered Rescue Engine 2 to stretch a 1 3/4 line to the yard. Rescue E2 arrived with the garage involved and extending to the house. The first crews extinguished the house and continued to work the car and boat. Rescue Truck 6 and Engine 1 worked the garage with the help of Pine Hill Engine 2. There where no injuries but a total loss of the car, boat and garage, and contents of the garage. No extention to the home. Just minor charing to the exterior of the sun porch. Mutual aid by Pine Hill, Forks (RIT), Sloan filled in at Rescue. The fire was under control in about 16 minutes. Click Here 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire on Eagle St. Engine 32 went on location reporting fire in therear of a 2 1/2 vacant. B-43 reported fire on the 1st & 2nd floor with heavy smoke conditions. The fire was under control in about 17 minutes. Dispatch April 4, 2009 Working Fire: Reserve Firefighters responded this evening for a report of an auto fire in the garage on Erwin Dr. Reserve 9 went on location reporting an auto fire in an attached garage. Mutual aid companies were vigilant, East Seneca, & Orchard Park (FAST). Dispatch Photos Working Fire: Lake View Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Smith Rd. Lake Shore 9-1 went on location with smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story frame and further reported fire in the walls on the 1st floor. Mutual Aid companies were Hamburg (Engine), Scranton (Ladder), Lake Shore (Ambulance & Engine), Highland Hose (Heavy Rescue), ES-11, & Evans Center (FAST). The fire was under control in about 23 minutes. Dispatch April 3, 2009 Working Fire: Newstead firefighters were alerted at 17:55 hours today for a possible trailer on fire in the area of 61 Ashwood Lane in the Lesiurewood Campgrounds. Newstead chief got onscene and reported a fully involved trailer fire. Newstead 9 then requested Akron for a Tanker to the fire scene. A firefighter was transported to ECMC via Twin City 243 for a minor eye injury. Newstead called back in service at 20:44 hours. The fire was under control in about 23 minutes Dispatch April 2, 2009 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a mattress fire on Mills St. B-43 went on location reporting heavy smoke howing from the 1st floor of an occupied story dwelling and requested the balance of the 1st alarm. B-43 further reported heavy fire in the rear of the structure. The fire was under control in about 22 minutes. Kenilworth 9-2 went on location with heavy smoke showing from the C side of the building and Kenilworth 9 requested a FAST team to the scene. Command further reported fire in the rear of the building and requested additional mutual aid to the scene. Mutual aid companies were Brighton (Engine), Ellwood (Ladder), Kenmore (FAST & 1 Engine), & Sheridan Park (fill in @ Kenilworth). The fire was under control in about 37 minutes. Dispatch April 1, 2009 Working Fire: Holland Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Holland-Glenwood Rd. Holland 9-1 went on location reporting a working fire in a tin roof wood frame structure and requested a full response from Holland and Colden. Holland 9 assumed command and requested a Tanker Mutual Aid from Chafee Sardinia to the scene. The fire was under control in about 24 minutes. Dispatch Fatal MVA: Spring Brook Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on Bowen Rd. State Police were on location reporting a school bus vs car head on MVA with extrication required. Spring Brook 9 went on location reporting 1 victim trapped , requesting EMS to expedite and Mercy Flight to the scene. Rural/Metro was on location working a trauma code. One victim was transported by Mercy Flight and 1 victim was ronounced at the scene.
