Annual Boot Drive:
The Bowmansville and Millgrove Fire Companies will team up once again for the annual Boot drive on Friday February 6th and Saturday February 7th benefiting Woman and Children’s Variety Club.
Firefighters will be at the Transit Road Regal Theater on Friday and Saturday from 6pm - 9pm and Tops Markets at Transit and Rehm and at various intersections on Saturday from 9am -12 pm. Chief Thomas J. Trzepacz is chairing the project for the Bowmansville Fire Company. “ With the help of Chief Bob Eleczko and the Millgrove Fire Company the firefighters really enjoy doing this boot drive and it is well received by the public”
Last year, the team effort was one of the biggest in the area collecting more then $10,0000. This years goal is to surpass that. All of the proceeds raised by this year’s boot drive will go directly to the Variety Club Telthon which is on WKBW Channel 7 Sunday February 22nd. Thank you.


Tractor Trailer Rollover:
Marilla Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a Tractor Trailer vs Mini Van MVA at Three Rod Rd & Clinton St. Marilla 9 was informed enroute that Mercy Flight was unavailable and Alden & Elma were put on stand by. Marilla 9 went on location reporting a Tractor Trailer rollover with 2 patients in the mini van with no injuries.

BNIA Firefighters responded this afternoon for an Alert 2 for an inbound plane with mechanical difficulties. The plane landed without incident,

MVA / People Trapped:
Ellicott Creek Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on North French Rd. Ellicott Creek 9-2 went on location reporting a 2 car MVA T-Bone and extrication required on both cars for 3 victims. EC 9-2 requested mutual aid for Getzville to respond with their JAWS to the scene. All victims were extricated in about 47 minutes.

1+ Alarm Fire:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning to investigate a possible basement fire on Ada Pl. Engine 33 went on location and requested the balance of the 1st alarm. E33 further reported heavy fire in the rear of a 2 1/2 story frame and people trapped. B-44 assumed command and reported the exposure involved as well & requested an additional Engine (34) to the scene. Water supply was compromised due to a frozen hydrant and command requested an additional Ladder (14) to the scene. One victim was rescued and a search for a 2nd victim was negative. The fire in the original building was under control in about 32 minutes and the exposure was under control in about 36 minutes.

Working Fire:
U-Crest Firefighters responded this evening for a report of an apartment fire on Stratford Pl. U-Crest 9-2 went on location reporting smoke showing and a working fire. Command further reported a 1 room fire. Mutual Aid companies were Cleveland Hill (Ladder), Forks (FAST), & Hy-View (fill in @ U-Crest). The fire was under control in about 26 minutes.

Alden Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a couch fire possibly out on arrival. Alden 9-3 went on location with smoke showing from an apartment building. Alden 9 went on location and assumed command and reported a working structure fire and requested mutual aid to the scene. Mutal Aid comapnies were Town Line ( Engine), Crittenden (Fire Police), Twin District (Engine), & Marilla (FAST). The fire was under control in about 34 minutes.

3 Alarm Fire:
Boston Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a kitchen fire at the Boston Hotel on Boston State Rd. Boston 9-2 reported heavy smoke from the 2nd floor and Boston Engine 1 went on location reporting fire showing. Boston 9 requested the full 2nd alarm mutual aid response to the scene and reported a kitchen fire with extension to the 2nd floor. Heavy fire conditions forced Firefighters to go to defensive operations. Third alarm mutual aid companies were requested to the scene and for fill in. Mutual Aid companies were North Boston, Patchin, Springville, Colden, Hamburg, East Concord, Hillcrest, East Eden, Orchard Park (FAST), Armor, Newton Abbott, Chafee, & Langford. Crews are still on location as of this posting.

Holland Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire on Vermont Hill Rd. Holland 9-1 went on location with smoke showing from a 1 story brick frame and requested mutual aid to the scene. Mutual Aid companies were Chafee (Engine), Wales Center (Full Company response), South Wales (Tanker), East Aurora (fill in @ East Aurora), Strykersville (Tanker), & Colden (Engine). The fire was under control in about 2 hours 40 minutes.

Boston Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a snowmobile accident on the trails off South Feddick Rd. Boston 9 went on location reporting a snowmobile vs tree accident approximately 1 mile off road with 2 patients down and requested the STAR team from Hamburg.

B-43 reported fire on the 4th floor of a 6 story apartment building. One victim was rescued by aerial ladder. The fire caused $165,000 damage was under control in about 23 minutes.

Main Transit Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Stoneledge Ct. Main Transit 9-2 went on location reporting a working kitchen fire and requested a FAST team to the scene. Mutual Aid was provided by Snyder (FAST). The cause of the fire was listed as a stove burner left unattended. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

Grant Money:
Round 21 of the 2008 AFG awards were announced yesterday with Vigilant receiving $95,000 & Alden receiving $52,248 both for Operations & Safety. Also, Round 8 of the 2008 SAER awards were announced yesterday and Harris Hill received $87,648 for Recruitment.

Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Goembel Ave. Engine 31 went on location with heavy fire showing on the 1st & 2nd floors of a 2 1/2 story frame. Eggertsville Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a car vs School bus MVA on Bailey Ave @ Cambridge St. Eggertsville 9-2 went on location reporting a car vs School Bus MVA with 10 children on the bus & extrication required for the driver of the car. The victim was extricated in about 20 minutes and was transported by Twin City to ECMC.

MVA / Person Trapped:
Doyle Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on the I-190 near the old South Ogden toll barriers. State police were on location confirming a rollover MVA with 1 person trapped. The victim was extricated in about 27 minutes.

Round 20 of the 2008 AFG Grants were announced yesterday and Millgrove Fire Company will receive $59,850 & Swormville Fire Compnay will receive $988,704. Both companies received the money for Operations & Safety.


Fatal Carbon Monoxide:
Reserve Firefighters responded this morning for a report of 2 people unresponsive in a basement on Windmill Rd. Command reported 2 females down in the basement, 1 with aginal respirations. One victim was pronounced at an area hospital.

2 Alarm Fire:
City of Tonawanda Firefighters responded early this norning to BJ's Wholesale Club on Youngs Rd. Command went on location with smoke in the building. Mutual Aid was requested from North Tonawanda (Ladder, Engine) Brighton (FAST & Hammer 7), Sheridan Park (Engine), Kenilworth (Heavy Rescue), & Grand Island (fill in). Fire was reported in a kiosk inside the building.

Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning to General Mills on Michigan Ave to investigate. Engine 1 went on location reporting a 100 gallon diesel spill and requested Hazmat 1 to the scene. Dispatch sent a spill response to the scene. All units were in service in about 25 minutes.

Lake Shore Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on Route 5 in front of the Wannakah Country Club. Hamburg 9 went on location reporting a 2 car head on MVA & extrication required. Hamburg 9 also reported 1 victim unconcious with possible serious internal injuries. The victim was extricated in about 10 minutes.

Engine 4 further reported the possibilty of a person trapped. One victim was located in cardiac arrest and command requested the ambulance to expedite. B-46 requested additional equipment bringing Engine 32 & Ladder 2 to the scene. The victim was pronounced at an area hospital. The fire was under control in about 60 minutes.

Alert 2:
BNIA Firefighters responded this afternoon about 30 minutes after the first Alert 2 for an inbound plane with mechanical difficulties. The plane landed without incident.

Alert 2:
BNIA went on an Alert 2 this afternoon for a small inbound plane with landing gear and steering issues. After making a low passover, the front landing wheel locked in place and the tower cleared the plane for landing. The plane landed without incident, the landing gear held up and steering issues were overcome. All companies/agencies were thanked for their quick response.

MVA w/ Injuries:
U-Crest Firefighters responded last night for a report of a MVA at George Urban Blvd & Dick Rd. U-Crest 9 & Rural/Metro 507 went on location requesting additional resources to the scene. A total of 3 ILS/ALS ambulances were requested and 3 patients were transported with minor injuries.

MVA / Vehicle Fire:

East Amherst Firefighters responded last night for a report of a car into a tree on Klein Rd. Command went on location reporting a 1 car MVA into a tree & the car fully involved. The driver of the car was self extricated when Fire crews arrived.

Working Fire:
Akron Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a kitchen fire on Main Rd. Akron 9 went on location reporting a working fire in a kitchen. Mutual Aid companies were Clarence Center (FAST), Newstead, & Clarence (fill in @ Akron).

MVA / Person Trapped:

Getzville Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA involving a school bus on John James Audobon Pkwy. Command went on location reporting 1 person pinned in the car and extrication necessary. The bus driver was also transported to an area hospital.

MVA / People Trapped:
Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a MVA on the I-190 Northbound near Elm St. Engine 1 went on location reporting a 2 car serious MVA head on collision. E1 updated B-43 that 3 people were trapped. Rescue 1 extricated all 3 victims in about 36 minutes. Injuries are unknown at this time.

B47 went on location reporting heavy fire conditions throughout with exposures on the #2 & #4 sides and defensive operations were in effect. B-56 requested additional equipment bringing Engines 22 & 28 to the scene. The fire was under control in about 50 minutes.

Cleveland Hill 9-2 went on location reporting a possible wood burner extended into the house. Cleveland Hill 9 assumed command and reported a working basement fire. Mutual Aid companies were Snyder (FAST), CD-132, & U-Crest ( fill in @ Cleve Hill). The fire was under control in about 17 minutes.

Holland Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a chimney fire on Wagner Rd. Holland command reported a wood burner stove with extension into the walls. Chafee-Sardinia responded mutual aid to the scene.

1 Alarm Fire:
Buffalo Firefighters responded late this morning for a report of a structure fire on Genesee St. Engine 31 went on location with smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story frame. B-43 reported fire on the 2nd floor. The fire was under control in about 22 minutes & the cause is listed as careless use of an extension cord.

Fatal Fire:
City of Tonawanda Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire with a person trapped on Stark St. Car 6 went on location with smoke & fire showing from the rear of a 1 1/2 story frame with an exposure problem on the #4 side. Command reported heavy fire conditions which forced crews out of the building and ordered a defensive attack. Mutual Aid companies were North Tonawanda, Grand Island (fill in), Brighton (FAST), & Kenilworth. One victim was found DOA inside the residence. The fire was under control in about 78 minutes.

MVA / Person Trapped:
Grand Island Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on the I-190 at the South Grand Island Bridge. Grand Island 9 went on location reporting 3 seperate accidents involving 11 cars, and 1 victim trapped. The victim was extricated in about 15 minutes.

1 Alarm Fire:
Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Anderson Pl. B-44 went on location reporting smoke showing in the hallway. B-44 further reported a fire in the hallway of a 4 story apartment building. The fire was under control in about 8 minutes.
