Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Shirley St. Engine 23 went on location reporting fire showing on the #3 side rear exterior of a 2 story frame with extension to the interior. The fire was under control in about 16 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded late last night for a report of a structure fire on E Eagle St. Engine 3 went on location reporting a working fire in a 1 1/2 story vacant. B-43 reported 2 separate fires on the 1st and 2nd floors and B-56 requested an Ambulance for 1 Firefighter with minor injuries. The fire was under control in about 17 minutes.

Working Fire:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire inside a business on Broadway. Engine 3 went on location reporting the building charged with smoke. Engine 3 further reported the sprinkler system active and fire in a bailing machine. The fire was under control in about 11 minutes.

Boat Explosion:
Tonawanda Firefighters responded to a District 1 Class 2 Alarm of Fire at the River Rd Marina for a report of a boat explosion with victims in the water. Sheridan Park 9 went on location with a 20 ft boat adrift fully involved from the explosion and fully fueled with the dock also on fire. Command requested paramedics to the scene for 2 victims with serious burns. District 1 companies responding were Sheridan Park, River Road, Ellwood, Kenilworth, Brighton, & Kenmore. The fire was under control in about 1 hour.

Grand Island Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on East River Rd. Grand Island 9 received an update enroute of multiple phone calls with fire through the roof and requested Sheridan Parks' FAST team. Grand Island 9-2 went on location reporting an electrical fire on the roof with the fire out on arrival.

Vehicle Fire:
Brighton Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Niagara Falls Blvd. Brighton 9 went on location with heavy smoke showing from the rear of a 1 1/2 story motel. Brighton 9 further reported a truck fully involved with extension to the building. Ellicott Creek responded mutual aid as the FAST team. The fire was under control in about 12 minutes.

The fire was under control in about 34 minutes.

Level 1 Hazmat:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a powder substance inside an envelope at the US Social Security office on Exchange St. F-16 went on location and requested a full Level 1 Hazmat response, bringing Engines 3, 1, 38, Ladders 1, 13, Rescue 1, Hazmat 1, B-55, B-43, B-56, F8, & F-20. Hazmat 1 made entry into the building and determined no radiation or biological hazard involved. The incident was terminated in about 79 minutes.

National Night Out:
East Lovejoy's 3rd Annual National Night Out sponsored by ELCoN (East Lovejoy Coalition of Neighbors) will be out Tuesday August 5th, 2008 from 6p-9p in Hennepin Park. Engine 28 will be on location for the kids as well as free refreshments & music by Head East Civic Club. This is an alcohol/drug free night out.

MVA / Person Trapped:
Vigilant Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a MVA on Seneca St. Vigilant 9 went on location reporting a car vs house MVA with 1 female victim trapped and extrication required. Command requested mutual aid from Seneca Hose (1 Engine) for manpower. The victim was extricated in about 17 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire in the area of Goodyear Ave & Koons St. Engine 22 went on location reporting heavy fire conditions in a 2 1/2 vacant and requested additional equipment bringing Engines 21, 28, & Ladder 5 to the scene. B-43 assumed command and reuested the balance of the 2nd alarm bringing Engine 35, Ladder 2, & B-46 to the scene and ordered a defensive attack. B-56 requested 6 additional Engines (1, 23, 25, 32, 33, 37) to the scene for water relay to the ladder pipes. The fire was under control in about 84 minutes.

Fatal MVA:
Lake View Firefighters responded for a report of a MVA involving a train on Lakeview Rd last night. Lake View 9 went on location with a car vs train MVA, vehicle on fire and requested Mercy Flight. Lake View 9 updated Mercy Flight that the patient had an amputation below the knee, severe burns, and head injuries, and cardiac arrest was imminent. The patient was pronounced at ECMC. North Evans provided Mutual Aid to land Mercy Flight and fill-in at Lake Views' station.

Authorities today identified the victim of a fatal fire engine crash Tuesday evening as Ryan T. Barker, 25, of Big Flats.

Forks Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a pedestrian struck on Union Rd at South Creek Dr. Command went on location reporting a working trauma code and the victim was pronounced at an area hospital.

MVA / Person Trapped:
North Bailey Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a MVA on Niagara Falls Blvd. North Bailey 9-1 went on location reporting a 2 car MVA with 1 victim requiring extrication. The victim was extricated in about 13 minutes.

2 Alarm Fire:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Vermont St. B-44 went on location reporting a fully involved 2 1/2 story & an exposure on the #4 side involved and requested the 2nd alarm to the scene. B-56 requested additional equipment bringing Engines 28 & 33 to the scene. B-56 ordered an emergency evacuation of the main fire building and defensive operations. The fire was under control in about 1 hour 50 minutes.
