March 9 2008 MVA Person Trapped: Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a MVA at E Ferry & Humboldt Pkwy. Ladder 14 was on location reporting 1 victim trapped and requested Rescue 1 to the scene for extrication. The victim was extricated in about 15 minutes. Working Fire: South Line Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Garden Village Dr. SL 9-1 was on location reporting a working fire in the walls. Mutual aid was provided by Forks (FAST), Doyle (Ladder to the scene), East Seneca (Fill-In), and Bellvue (Fill-In). The fire was under control in about 14 minutes March 14, 2008 MVA w/Serious Injuries: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning on the Route 33 Eastbound between Bailey and Eggert Rd for a report of a MVA. Engine 23 was on location reporting a 1 car MVA. One patient was struck while outside of the car and was rushed to ECMC with serious injuries. Firefighter Injured: A Buffalo Firefighter was seriously injured in his home last night. He was attacked and pistol whipped in the head. Police and EMS first though he was shot in the head. No futher details are available. I will post links when they become available. Industrial Accident: Ellicott Creek Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of industrial accident at Amherst Injection Molding on Commerce Dr. Command was on location reporting a victim struck in leg by a forklift with serious injuries. St.Patricks Day Parade: Sunday March 16, 2008 is the annual Buffalo St.Patricks Day Parade. The parade starts at 2pm. If anyone has pictures they would like to submit please email me and attach them. I will post my photos that evening. March 15, 2008 Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a kitchen fire on Humboldt Pkwy. Engine 33 went on location reporting smoke showing and the possibility of a person trapped. Rescue 1 reported fire on the 2nd floor and 1 victim. The victim was extricated without serious injuries. Click Here to view them Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a garage fire on Hinman Ave. Ladder 13 went on location reporting a working garage fire with no exposures. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. March 17, 2008 MVA w/Entrapment: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a MVA on the Rte 33 EB near the Delevan St overpass. Command reported a vehicle on its roof with 3 people trapped and requested Rescue 1 to the scene. The vehicle left the overpass and landed on the Rte 33. One patient suffered severe injuries. Furnace Fire: On 3/15 Marilla Firefighters responded for a report of a furnace fire on Two Rod Rd. The fire was out on arrival and a request for utilities and the building inspector was ordered. Click Here to view them March 18, 2008 Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Busti Ave. B-56 went on location reporting a well involved 2 1/2 story vacant fire on the 2nd floor. B-56 reported an imminent roof collapse and ordered crews out of the building for a defensive attack. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. MVA/Level 1 Hazmat: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a MVA at Bailey Ave & William St. B-46 was on location reporting a Metro Bus vs Tractor Trailer and requested a spill response for diesel fuel leaking from the tractor trailer bringing Hazmat 1 to the scene. A total of 5 patients were transported to area hospitals. The incident was under control in about 90 minutes. Click Here to view them March 21, 2008 Bedroom Fire: Reserve Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a bedroom fire on Greenbranch Dr. Reserve Engine 2 was on location reporting a Mutual Aid was provided by Vigilant & East Seneca. B-43 reported fire on the 1st floor rear step down. The fire was under control in about 9 minutes Chimney Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded yesterday evening for a report of a chimney fire on University Ave. Ladder 7 reported fire showing from the top of the chimney. Firefighters used dry-chem on the fire. The fire was under control in about 19 minutes. Garage Fire: Alden Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of an alarm activation on Manitou Rd. Command was on location reporting a working garage fire. The fire was under control in about 11 minutes. Mutual Aid was provided by Town Line (2 Engines to scene) & Crittenden (1 Engine for Fill-In). Working Fire: South Line Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of smoke in the basement on N.Seine Rd. Command was on location reporting a working fire in the basement. Mutual Aid was provided by Forks (FAST team), Doyle (1 Engine for fill-in @ Boxwood), & East Seneca (1 Engine for fill-in @ French Rd). The fire was under control in about 18 minutes. March 23, 2008 Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded last night to a report of a structure fire on Ruhland St. Engine 22 was on location reporting a 2 1/2 story vacant well involved. B-56 reported the structure was fully involved and ordered a defensive attack & requested additional equipment bringing Engines 21 & 33. The fire was under control in about 40 minutes. Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for an alarm activation on Eley Pl. Ladder 7 was on location reporting fire on the 1st floor of a 50x50 2 story commercial building and requested the balance of the 1st alarm. B-56 reported fire on the 1st & basement with extension to the 2nd and requested additional equipment bringing Engines 21 & 36, & Ladder 14 to the scene. The fire was under control in about 47 minutes. Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Trinity Pl. B-56 was on location reporting a working fire with heavy smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story dwelling. Two dogs were rescued and are being treated at the SPCA. Engine 33 was on location reporting an electrical fire in the basement on the #3 side wall of a 2 1/2 story and requested the balance of the 1st alarm. The fire was under control in about 8 minutes. March 27, 2008 Carbon Monoxide: Lancaster Village Firefighters responded this morning for a report of an activated CO2 detector on Irwinwood Rd. Lancaster 9-1 was on location reporting high levels of CO2. It is unknown if any patients were transported. Level 1 Hazmat: Town Line Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a chemical spill @ Try-It Distributors on Walden Ave. Command was on location reporting a chemical spill from 2 55 Gallon drums. Command requested a mutual aid spill response from Buffalo FD bringing F-16, B-41, B-42, Hazmat 1, Rescue 1, Engine 3, Engine 21, & Ladder 6. Alden provided Fill-In sending 1 Engine to Town Lines' Station. The incident was under control in about 2 hours. Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon to investigate smoke on 17th Street. B-44 was informed enroute of multiple phone calls & requested the balance of the 1st alarm. B-44 went on location reporting fire on the exterior of the rear cottage. The fire was under control in about 6 minutes. March 29,2008 Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Dartmouth St. E23 was on location reporting heavy fire from the 2-3 corner. B-56 reported fire on the 1st floor, 2nd floor fully involved, heavy fire in the attic, and requested an additional 2 Engines (31, 38) & 1 Truck (14). Fire was under control in about 29 minutes MVA/ Person Trapped: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a MVA at Walden Ave & Koons St. Command reported a 1 car rollover with 1 victim trapped and requested Rescue 1 to the scene for extrication. March 30, 2008 Garage Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a garage fire on Lisbon Ave. Engine 23 was on location reporting smoke showing from a 1 story garage. Engine 34 reported being involved in a MVA enroute to the fire and requested EMS for 1 minor Patient. The fire was under control in about 8 minutes Working Fire / Person Trapped: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Overland St. Engine 22 was on location reporting heavy smoke showing and reports of a disabled person trapped in a 2 1/2 story frame. B-56 reported heavy fire and smoke conditions venting out the #4 side. Primary search found 1 victim with serious injuries and was extricated by multiple companies. The fire was under control in about 17 minutes. Working Fire: Lake Shore Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on St. Francis Rd. Lake Shore 9-2 was on location reporting heavy smoke showing and a working fire on the 2nd floor. Mutual Aid was provided by Woodlawn & Big Tree. Working Fire: Forks Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Nagel Rd. Command was on location reporting a working fire in a 1 1/2 stroy frame with fire on the 1st floor and extending into the attic. Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire on North Division St. Engine 32 was on location reporting heavy smoke showing and fire on the 1st floor of a 1 1/2 story dwelling. The fire was under control in about 12 minutes. 2 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire at Grote & Peters St. Engine 36 was on location reporting heavy fire in the rear of a 1 1/2 story vacant & an exposure problem. The exposure ( rear garage) was fully involved and command requested a 2nd Alarm to the scene. The fire was under control in about 1 hour Working Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Harmonia St. Command reported a working fire & water pressure problems and requested additional equipment to the scene. March 31, 2008 Buffalo Firefighter Raises: The Buffalo Control Board voted today to give the Buffalo Firefighters their long overdue raises. It has been 7 years since their last raise. B-56 reported the building fully involed with a partial roof collapse and the possibility of propane tanks inside. Additional equipment was requested bringing Engine 3 to the scene and a defensive attack was ordered. The fire was under control in about 65 minutes. |
