March 31, 2009 MVA / Serious Injuries: Rescue Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a MVA at Walden Ave & Galleria Dr. I was on location as I witnessed a SUV cross the intersection and hit the car next to me head on. One victim was unconcious with dual airbag deployment. Three patients were transported by Rural/Metro to local hospitals. Photos Hazmat: A call came in to investigate smoke in the vicinity of 125 Colgate Ave. Engine 4 went on location reporting light smoke showing behind a medium size structure. Engine 4 (the scene of a fire the day before) Engine 4 than reported a small rubbish fire on Carter St. but it was out on arrival B-46 picked up the companies for good intent but held Engine 4 on location to wait for a represenative for Niagara Fiberglass Inc. B-46 requested Engine 25 and Ladder 10 back on scene to investigate smoke inside of a 100X400 building that housed Niagara Fiberglass Inc. and while investigating the inside of the building found that everything inside the building was covered in a fine soot that was flammable and requested B-41 B-56 and F-16x. Click Here March 29, 2009 1+ Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Brewster St. Engine 33 reported smoke from Fillmore Ave and went on location with a vacant 2 1/2 fully involved. B-47 ordered defensive operations setting up 2 ladder pipes and requested additional equipment bringing Engine 23 to the scene to feed Ladder 7. The fire was under control in about 29 minutes. Grand Island 9-3 went on location reporting a MVA. Grand Island 9 went on location requesting Mercy Flight to the scene and further reported a 1 car rollover MVA with an ejection and looking for a 2nd victim. Dispatch 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on West Ave. Engine 2 went on location reporting smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story frame. B-44 reported fire on the 1st floor rear #2 side of a vacant dwelling. The fire was under control in about 11 minutes. The fire was under control in about 45 minutes. Dispatch MVA / Person Trapped: Wales Center Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a MVA on Four Rod Rd near Route 20A. Wales Center 9-1 went on location reporting a 1 car rollover MVA with extrication required requested Mercy Flight to the scene. East Aurora was called for mutual aid assist for their extrication equipment. The victim was extricated in about 29 minutes. B-47 reported fire in the front of a 150x150 commercial building. The fire was under control in about 11 minutes. Dispatch 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire on Auburn Ave. Engine 19 went on location reporting smoke showing from the attic of a 2 story frame. B-44 reported fire in the attic. The fire was under control in about 26 minutes. Dispatch 3 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of an auto fire on Holden St. Engine 34 went on location requesting the balance of the 1st alarm for a fully involved 2 1/2 story frame. Ladder 7 reported an exposure on the #2 side involved and B-47 requested the 2nd alarm on arrival. B-56 assumed command reported 2 exposures involved and requested additional equipment bringing Engines 35, 28, & Ladder 10 & then requested the balance of the 3rd alarm. Water problems were an issue with this fire.The fire was under control in about 92 minutes. Dispatch1 Dispatch2 Working Fire: Clarence Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Alxander Dr. Clarence 9 reported smoke in the area while enroute and requested a FAST team. Clarence 9 went on location reporting heavy smoke showing from a 3 story dwelling and reported fire on the 1st floor. Brighton provided 1 Engine & 1 Ladder mutual aid to the scene. 1 Alarm Fire: Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning to investigate an unknown type of fire in the rear of 620 Fargo Ave. Engine 19 went on location reporting a working garage fire and requested the balance of the 1st alarm. B-44 reported fire in a 1 story attached garage with an exposure problem on the #2 side. The fire was under control in about 12 minutes. Dispatch March 22, 2009 Working Fire: Hamburg Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Parkside Ave. Dispatch informed crews of a possible chimney fire while enroute. Hamburg 9 went on location reporting fire showing from the eaves and a possible attic fire in a 2 story dwelling. Mutual Aid companies were Scranton (Truck 6), Armor (Engine 2 to scene, Engine for fill in), North Boston (Engine 3), Eden (FAST), Big Tree (fill in @ Union St station). The fire was under control in about 17 minutes. Click Here March 20, 2009 Working Fire: Highland Hose Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Prescott Rd. Highland Hose 9-1 went on location reporting a working fire. North Evans 10 assumed command & reported fire in a bedroom. Mutual aid companies were North Evans, Lake View, & Brant. One civilian was transported to an area hospital. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. Dispatch Chimney Fire: Harris Hill was alerted by Amherst Fire Control for a possibly chimney fire at 5074 Clearview Drive at 17:21 hours on March 19, 2009. Nothing showing upon arrival. Upon further investigation Harris Hill fireman found a fire in the wall and extinguished it. It caused $5,000 in damage to the structure. Incident dispatched 17:21, called in service at 18:58. Town Line 9 went on location reporting a car vs Tractor trailer MVA, 2 people trapped, 1 with major trauma injuries, & 1 with moderate injuries & requested Mercy Flight to the scene. Dispatch Google View March 11, 2009 Dryer Fire: At 21:36 on 3/11/09 Main-Transit was called for a dryer fire at 17 Turnberry. Police on location reported flames showing but were contained to the dryer. B-43 reported 4 Firefighters (2 from E1 & 2 from R1) were being transported for cold exposure. Eden 9 went on location reporting a 2 story dwelling fully involved and ordered a defensive attack. Lake Erie Beach 9 went on location reporting a working fire. Mutual Aid companies were Evans Center, Farnham, & Brant (Tanker). Dispatch Google View Working Fire: Around 12:00 Sunday March 1st, East Aurora firefighters were dispatched to a reported working fire on Sycamore Ave. First arriving chiefs found a working detached garage fire fully involved. East Aurora Engine 3 arrived on scene and knocked down the fire within 10 mintues using foam. East Aurora engine 1 and Rescue 7 also assisted at the scene, along with Rural Metro 576 and East Aurora Police Department. No injuries were reported. Engine 34 went on location reporting fire throughout a 2 1/2 story frame. B-56 assumed command & reported a fully involved structure with exposures involved on the #2 & #4 sides and requested additional equipment bringing Engines 31, 38, & Ladder 13 to the scene. B-56 reported a total collapse of the main fire building. The fire was under control in about 61 minutes. Dispatch Google View Working Fire: Firefighters from the Eggertsville Hose Company responded to a report of a basement fire at 79 Chassin Ave. on Tuesday at 11:58pm. Upon arrival firefighters found the home fully charged with smoke with a report of a fire in the basement dryer. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the appliance. Damage estimated at $500. There were no injuries. The North Bailey Fire Company responded to assist as FAST team. Swormville 9-1 went on location reporting a car vs tractor trailer head on, with the car under the truck, 1 person trapped & a trauma code. Click Here MVA / Serious Injuries: East Seneca was alerted at appx. 1830 for a MVA on Transit Road near the 400. Blossom and Springbrook were also alerted for an MVA at Transit Road and Bullis Road, these turned out to all be the same accident at Transit Road and New Bullis Road in Elma. East Seneca 9 arrived on location and established Transit Road command. He reported a 2 car MVA with 1 unconscious, possible extrication and requested Mercy Flight. East Seneca, Blossom and Springbrook units arrived on location and began extrication of the unconscious patient and evaluation of the 4 other patients. East Seneca Paramedics transported the priority patient in Springbook 8 to the landing zone at Springbook's firehall. While enroute the patient went into cardiac arrest and was successfully resuscitated prior to being transferred to Mercy Flight, who transported him to ECMC. The 4 other patients were evaluated and transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
